Evolution of subscribers in Africa

The African continent now has 616 million mobile subscribers according to the latest survey of semptembre 2011. It then goes to the second position, behind Asia in the ranking of the most connected.

Still fourth at the end of 2010, the continent has seen the number of subscribers
rapidly increase, this for a number of factors including: increasing competition among operators, the emergence of new challengers, the evolution of the population and the low cost of acquisition of devices.

If this growth continues, the continent will have a penetration rate of mobile of around 87% by 2016. He will become the first area in numbers of subscribers. Being the most populous country in the continent, Nigeria is also the one who has the most subscriptions.
